Head Fitter
At Design4Retail, we design, make, and install creative retail spaces for some of the biggest brands in the world. From pop-ups to flagship stores, we bring ideas to life with passion, precision, and teamwork. Weāre looking for an experienced Head Fitter to join our installations team someone who leads by example, keeps projects running smoothly, and supports the Associate Director of Logistics in delivering exceptional results.
The Role
This is a hands-on senior position for a skilled fitter who can lead from within the team. You will be responsible for guiding the fitting crew, managing the smooth installation of clientās bespoke retail display fixtures, dealing with challenges on site if they arise and ensuring each project meets Retailer/ Clients & D4Rās high standards. You will need to be calm under pressure, make effective decisions when needed, communicate clearly and keep the team motivated with a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the fitting team on site.
- Support with planning and delivering installations.
- Act as Deputy to the Assoc. Director to manage the Installations team & contractors when needed.
- Ensure all work meets our quality and safety standards.
- Communicate clearly with clients, project managers, and other team members.
- Help organise site logistics, tools, and schedules.
- Get hands-on with installs ā we are looking for a doer, not just a delegator.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience 5 years+ as a Senior Fitter, Site Lead, or Team Leader in retail or commercial interiors.
- Strong background in joinery, shopfitting, or similar trades.
- Great communication skills and the ability to lead from the front.
- Positive, proactive attitude with good problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of health and safety on site.
Qualifications
- SMSTS qualified āļø
- Full UK driving licence āļø
- PASMA training ā advantage
- Forklift / HGV licence ā not essential
- Willing to travel and stay away when required
