D4R Charity day

"At D4R we love to get involved in Charity fundraising and events and we are all about giving back to the community. "

This year, our chosen charity this year was Adapt, which is very close to our hearts, the aim was to donate as much money as we could rustle together within 2017.

For those who don’t know who Adapt are and what they are about. They are a small charity who provide support to families with premature and unwell babies on the neonatal units at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. They also provide ongoing care after families have gone home.

 

Although the medical care these babies receive is amazing, what happens to the parents who are living day by day or sometimes hour by hour, not knowing whether their tiny, poorly baby will survive can be a very traumatic experience, and we wanted to help as much as we can by donating!  What is fantastic about this Charity is that they have family support workers who visit the Neonatal Units in both hospitals. They are in daily contact with all new parents at the hospitals, giving them the support and help they need in any way they can whether it be just a friendly face to talk to or help with more practical and financial issues.

 

"World Prematurity Day"

What is fantastic about this Charity is that they have family support workers who visit the Neonatal Units in both hospitals. They are in daily contact with all new parents at the hospitals, giving them the support and help they need in any way they can whether it be just a friendly face to talk to or help with more practical and financial issues.  Adapt rely solely on donations to continue to support families of premature babies so we’ve been running events throughout the year but wanted to end on a high and go out with a bang to celebrate Wold Prematurity Day.

We organised a ‘guess the baby’ competition of the staff as well as guessing how many jelly babies are in a bottle.  We got some cakes in as well as little mini cupcakes made with the Adapt logo on there, to make it extra special, celebrating World Prematurity Day.

 

In the build up to world prematurity day we set two targets to get the directors and office manager dressed up in a baby costumes with the help from everyone at D4R and our suppliers we smashed our £500 target and raise a whopping £2,000 over the course of a year! But no, we didn’t stop there.

We went down to our local pub to enjoy a drink or two and some food, finishing with a few prize winners following from the baby and jelly baby competition that morning, which was then followed by a mini speech recognising our amazing target donation by all of us at D4R.
