A window display in York has attracted a lot of attention from locals and the media in the run up to Valentine’s Day.
Local florist, Floral Elegance, have placed a couple of life-like mannequins in their shop window dressed in sexy underwear to attract Valentine’s customers.
Due to the nature of the window display they have attracted more attention that they would with their traditional floral display. The display has led to some confusion from male passers-by, who have been confused by the window display and thought the florist was an adult themed store.
With the very nature of Alice in Wonderland there are so many different ideas you can work on with an Alice in Wonderland window display.

The latest we have spotted is this Charles Fox window in Covent Garden, London. Charles Fox is a retail outlet for make-up for theatre, film and television and they often have impressive window displays.

With online retail sales proving to be very successful in the recent years, retail outlets are looking for new ways to entice customers into their stores.
One of the best ways for retailers to bring customers back into their highstreet stores is to attract them with their unusual window displays.
Christmas, more than any other time of year tends to be the biggest focus for stores to spend a lot of time and effort on their window displays.
American retailer Anthropologie recently opened a store in London’s Regent Street. For the opening week they took a an unusual approach with their shop window and instore display.
They used a large number of colourful fruit teabags to hang in their window, quirky chandeliers made from recycled plastics, a life-size model sheep draped in heavy yarn and a 20-metre high vertical garden..
Suprisingly the window display is very attractive and attracted a large amount of attention.
Maybe this is a new way to get people to recyle?!
Last week we showed you a great Christmas window display that we’d seen on Youtube. It showed off what retail store Macy did with their window last year.
Not to be left behind, this year, the city of Cleveland have decided to bring the city’s most historic building into the 21st Century.
In a bid to reestablish itself as a prominent landmark (it was used as the shop front in the 1940s Hollywood movie A Christmas Story), the public building that would usually be promoting local events through the medium of posters is instead using the latest technology to brighten up its window displays.
The local council will be bringing the window back to life with a multicolour fusion of digital media and Bluetooth technology. We’re not entirely sure what this will involve, but it sounds very interesting, definitely a novel way of represent ion of a window display
Big retail outlets, the likes of John Lewis, JD Sports, Next, all spend a great amount of cash on attractive window displays.
Why? Because they realise that window displays are a great medium for advertising. If they can add that extra sparkle to their retail outlet, predominantly through their window displays, but also via their point of sale, shop displays, then you, the punter, are more likely to come in and spend your cash.
While they employ the services of retail design agencies like us, if you’re on a budget, you can still design your shop window to have the WOW factor. All you need is to follow a few simple rules and be creative.

Shop for window display merchandise when you can. With the increase in pound shops, ebay and charity shops, there’s always bargains to be had. If you see any merchandise that could be used as displays, however obscure, if they don’t cost the earth, buy them and store them away until the time you might be able to use them.
Use colours, shapes and materials. Bling isn’t just for the movie stars. A bit of sparkle attracts customers attention. Then using different shapes and sizes to help guide the customer who will naturally scan the window display. Mix the items you want to get rid of together with the latest products and produce an eclectic mix of design.
Check out your competitors window displays. It doesn’t hurt to have a look at what the competition is doing to get some great ideas, particularly if it’s the bigger stores. Stand outside and observe their customers – see what attracts them, as much as what attracts you. If it works for them, it could work for you.
Tis the season to be jolly. It’s coming coming to Christmas so a bit of tinsel and baubles are great. Use the different seasons and events as a theme for your window display. So, if the local carnival is coming to town, use that as inspiration. During the January sales, bring out the boxes and show a bargain environment… you get the picture.
Use a bit of elbow grease. Finally, if your windows have smudges or condensation all over them it will make it difficult to see your fantastic window designs. So drop a spot of vinegar in some hot water and give your windows, both inside and outside, a good scrub.
If you use these simple tips and keep your window displays fresh you too will have some tip top displays for people to talk about.

It is an occupational hazard of jewellers worldwide that they will undoubtedly attract thieves to their window booty.
Until now, there’s been very few solutions and there were certainly none available that were both non-violent or without damage to products. An innovative new intruder security system that fits within existing window display areas and is triggered by existing panic buttons or the newer wireless fobs has put an end to all that though.
