Changes to Point of Purchase Display

Point of purchase is changing across the seas as part of a new healthcare bill in America. President Barack Obama is making it a requirement for large restaurant chains to display nutritional information at the point of purchase. This means that all items on the menu will need to display the information so that it's available to all customers. If this idea works in the states its more than likely something that will be adopted by the UK later down the line. Governments across the globe are seeking better ways to improve the health of their citizens by attempting to make them more aware of the ingredients contained within the products they are buying. In the UK there are now laws in place which mean that nutritional information needs to be displayed on the packaging of ready meals but we are yet to see the government introduce anything like this. Government guidelines can change the way any product is displayed not just food. Food is an obvious one because the government hopes that by making people eat better they will reduce the costs involved with unhealthy people using the NHS system.

Just like the Coca Cola nutritional water packaging came to the attention of the media, if you do not take care with your store displays they could land you with a lot of unwanted media attention. Although Design4Retail don't tend to work with food companies, we do work with cosmetic companies and clothing companies which in future may need to provide ingredient lists in their display advertising or clothing companies may be required to display ethical logos. In a constantly changing world there are many things which may later change the way in which D4R work with brands to develop their retail design displays. We make sure that we are on the ball with any new changes in the law to make sure that the retail outlets we design for are up-to-date with the all industry regulations and requirements.
