D4R produce pop up space for Puma.Wednesday, 10 February 2010

If you’re passing through Selfridges London check out the fantastic retail design pop up space for Puma. Behind the genius pop up space are D4R, and renowned painter Kehinde Wiley who together have bought a splash of African colour and magic to men’s department.

PUMA commissioned Wiley to create a new boot for their PUMA Global Football campaign leading up to and through the FIFA World Cup™ 2010 in South Africa.
You’ll recognise the boots straightaway because of their bold design, and you might have already seen the limited edition v.1.10 Kehinde Wiley boot being worn by PUMA players Samuel Eto’o, John Mensah and Emmanuel Eboué in some of the UEFA Champions League games.

Now they’re also being showcased for the general public, which is where Design 4 Retail come in.

To show off their designer boots they approached us at D4R and asked to create something inspiring. Naturally we rose to the challenge and shot our designs straight in the back of the net (sorry, we just couldn’t help getting at least one footie pun in) with an African inspired Pop Up space.

We’ve designed, developed and installed this fabulous retail design to show off the boots and get everyone geared up to the World Cup. What makes it special is that the space we’ve created really breaks new ground for Pop Up shop environments.

PODS placed at either end of the area act like hands embracing the space and everything within it. And little touches like the grass, African table, posed mannequin of a football player and live media add an extra element of fun.

Here’s some snaps of what you’ll get to see, but hurry down and live the experience.
