Levi’s Jeans: Style in a Cinch!.Friday, 09 October 2009

Owned by Levi’s, Cinch stocks only the most premium concepts from the global denim brand, and couldn’t be further away from the image of a commercial store.

The store is regularly given a retail design makeover to showcase the latest products, and the latest incarnation is currently Levi’s X Original Fake – a new collaboration between Levi’s and the Japanese streetwear label founded by graffiti legend KAWS.

Now in its fifth edition and never before released outside Japan, this exciting collaboration is bringing fits to the London’s fashionable masses due to releasing only extremely limited numbers of stock.

The Levi’s X Original Fake capsule collection was available from September 1 in only seven European stores, hand picked by KAWS and Levi’s. The collection is extremely limited with just 24 units available at each store location.

With three different fits available and each made of 12oz selvedge indigo, you’ll be pleased to know that two styles based are on vintage Levi’s 501 Jeans styled on the iconic designs from 1947 and 1955 and feature a customized zip fly, while the third is a unique Cargo style, based on a silhouette from Original Fake’s mainline collection.

Previously, you would have found Cinch showcasing the innovative Levi’s RED™ – almost a laboratory for new denim design , Levi’s Vintage Clothing – exact replicas of key pieces from the Levi’s archives from 1873 through to the 1970s, and now the fantastic range of collaborative collections such as those created with Damien Hirst and Henry Holland.

In the UK the collection is only being sold at the Cinch store on Newburgh Street, London and at Oxford Street’s Selfridges. If you’re desperately searching outside the UK, you’ll find them in Europe at Slam Jam in Milan, Collette and Heritage Le Marals in Paris, Nordse in Copenhagen and the Berlin Flagship store in Germany.

Previously only available in Asia, the line features three denim styles each adorned by KAWS’ signature “Tooth Mark” motif that is known worldwide amongst urban art fans and only 48 pairs of these 12oz indigo denim jeans (for example) will be available in the UK; 24 pairs available from Selfridges and 24 pairs at Cinch London.

There’s other styles available too, but limited numbers still apply – no surprises there, so Design4Retail’s advice is to get ‘em while you can!
