Lego tries Kickers for size with help from D4R.Thursday, 08 October 2009

Hot off the presses, our mob at Design 4 Retail are supporting the new Kickers collaboration with LEGO® by creating retail displays for the new Kickers Kick Hi range to be launched this October.

Naturally, we are delighted to work on such an iconic brand as Kickers and to support them in their new partnership with LEGO.

As always, we wanted to create retail displays that will really make an impact in-store and will communicate the fun loving personalities of these premium children’s products.

Kickers’ new range is targeted at children ages four to ten years, featuring the Kickers Kick Hi boots with LEGO detailing, including bricks on Velcro straps and eyelets. The Lego brick print is also featured on two of the styles in a rainbow of colours to reflect the brand. Lego bricks and characters can also be easily attached to the shoes providing extra fun.

We responded by accurately creating the LEGO bricks, by scaling them up from original size to provide a basis for the retail displays. Both units feature LEGO bricks in bold primary colours. To build a single model brick took up to 30 hours alone using rapid prototyping.

We then married the two brands together by creating the Kickers fleurette to prominently feature on both retail units. The whole process from initial brief to finished displays in-store will have taken approximately 5 months.

The shoe risers are ideal for window display and the FSU’s provide an ambient point of sale offering a vibrant focal point for the merchandise anywhere in the store. We also produced 600 show cards to support the voucher scheme, since Kickers are offering free LEGOLAND vouchers when buying a pair of the LEGO Kickers shoes.

The displays will be featured in many high st stores nationwide, including John Lewis, Next, Office, Fenwick and online at Asos, Amazon and Littlewoods. A total of 250 shoe risers and 100 floor standing units (FSUs) will provide a striking feature for the new collection in-store.
